Adult Protective Services Supervisor-FT

Overview of Position:

 

The Adult Protective Services Supervisor’s Role during investigation or ongoing intervention, is to support the APS worker(s) during the decision-making process.  In addition to the usual tasks of evaluating the APS worker(s) skills and implementing training to enhance such, the supervisor has the responsibility to intervene with other agency or community systems to ensure the outcomes of case involvement are achieved.  The supervisor also maintains a comprehensive knowledge base of community resources and the population served.  The supervisor provides continuous efforts to enhance system response by supporting, facilitating or developing use of collaboration as a support to quality service delivery

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Social Worker, Public Health, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Law, or related field preferred

  • Experience working directly with older adults, families, case management, crisis management, social services-benefits assistance- preferred

  • Knowledge of community resources

  • Professional telephone and administrative skills

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Ability to make sound decisions and demonstrate critical thinking skills

  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and maintain accuracy in a flexible job environment

  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all agency HIPPA policies and procedures

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, access to an automobile and automobile insurance, meeting the minimum requirements of state law

  • Final candidate must agree to a BCII Criminal Records Check, which includes fingerprinting and pre-employment Drug Screen at the expense of Area Agency on Aging 3

  • It is the sole responsibility of the employee to keep up licensure, if any (i.e. RN, LSW) including continued licensure renewal throughout employment with Area Agency on Aging 3

 

Essential Functions:

  • Supports protective services screening decisions, protocols for referrals, and assists in determining response priority levels

  • Assists in the development of care planning when case decision indicates the need for ongoing provision of protective services

  • Assures safety and well-being of vulnerable victims

 

  • Provides supportive supervision to case workers including, case conferencing, to identify and assist in removing barriers to service delivery

  • Performs joint visits, as applicable, to support caseworker

  • Assists in recommending, preparing, and attending legal interventions, such a guardianship, power of attorney, protective services, and/or placement, as necessary to ensure individuals safety and well-being

  • Collaborates with other community organizations to effectively and efficiently provide a means for consultation, expertise, support, and problem solving to enhance the quality of service delivery and ensure outcomes of service coordination are achieved

  • Collaboration may occur, but is not limited to law enforcement, county attorneys, court system, and/or other involved individuals of agencies with expertise relevant to the case

  • Maintains a creative, flexible, and positive approach to problem solving

  • Networks within the community, providing education and outreach, including but not limited to, protective services and community resources

  • Completes case documentation using appropriate IT system platforms or digital applications

  • Prepares case reviews, correspondence, and compiles statistical information for state and county reports

  • Completes monitoring of case records to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations or contract

  • Meets procedural deadlines governing management of APS

  • Develops written protocols, including required Memorandums of Understanding per Ohio Administrative Code for Multidisciplinary Teams, establishing departmental policies and procedures; and interagency protocols/process flows to identify gaps in service and expedite referrals

  • Participates in program budget management and oversight; including any required financial reporting

  • Liaison for all audit inquiries and lead for program response

  • Attends conferences and training sessions to stay current with required program content and other relevant legislation

  • Provide, develop, and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base for consultation, education and support

  • Develops APS program onboarding guide and materials to support consistency amongst case managers

  • Develops and implements performance goals for assigned staff

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by VP of Community Living Services/Chief Operations Officer/Chief Executive Officer
